For some reason, the past week or so Meiby has been obsessively licking all the rugs and carpet in the house. She's not distracted from it by anything except food. We've been trying to keep her from licking by pulling on her collar, yelling "no", lifting her head, etc. I have no idea why she does this but she's on a mission and won't be stopped. Any advice?

Is she teething? If she really wouldn't stop you might want to give the vet a call, just to make sure she doesn't have some kind of deficiency. My Bucky licks a lot too, and very noisy, especially at night.
She might be teething... She's 8 months old. She lost a tooth a few weeks ago. I hadn't considered a deficiency though...
One of our pugs does this very thing. No deficiencies either. The best we can figure is he's just neurotic.
As a follow up: we asked the vet about this and it turns out that it is just puppy behavior. No health problems. We are still trying to stop this though.
